Why a Lusaka business still needs a real website in 2026
A social page is a rented shopfront. Here is what a proper website changes for a local business — and what to ask a developer for.
Plenty of Lusaka businesses run entirely on WhatsApp and Facebook, and it works — until the algorithm shifts, the page gets restricted, or a serious client asks for a link and gets a social profile instead.
A website does three things a social page cannot. It shows up in search when someone types your service plus 'Lusaka'. It gives you a single credible link for tenders, proposals and partnerships. And it lets you own the customer path from interest to enquiry without an intermediary.
What to actually ask for: fast on a phone over mobile data, clear services and pricing, one obvious way to make contact, real photos of real work, and a page per service so search engines can index each one.
What to skip on version one: sprawling blogs nobody maintains, animation-heavy homepages that cost data to load, and dashboards you will never log into.
Judge a developer by their previous work loading on your own phone, not by a slide deck. If it is slow on your handset, it will be slow for your customers.
This is the work Digital Edge does day to day — which is also why this marketplace exists: the same standard applied to digital products instead of only to websites.
